How It Works
The Short Story
An anaerobic biodigester processes various animal waste streams, including waste from dairy, beef, swine, and poultry facilities. We can also use other types of organic waste such as fats, oils, sugars, and starches.
The anaerobic biodigester creates effluent that is pumped from the effluent pit to a mechanical manure solids separator that separates the influent digested waste stream into solid and liquid. The solids are dewatered to approximately a 35% solid material. The separated solids have the same odor and pathogen reduction characteristics as the liquid stream. About 40 to 60 percent of the generated separated solids is typically used for animal bedding.
Benefits of the New Organic Digestion process:
• Quality bedding without composting
• Odor reduction
• Increased fertilizer value
• Pathogen reduction
• Weed seed reduction
